Run the Race

Episode Summary

You’re running a race today whether you know it or not. Are you running just for exercise or boxing like one throwing aimless punches? Or are you training like a champion athlete? On the other side of the finish line lies a victor’s crown that lasts forever.

Run the Race

Welcome to episode seven of our Three Part Being series. We’re so happy to have you join us as we spend the next two weeks focusing on Spirit, Soul, and Body, the three parts that make up our entire being. If you missed the first few episodes don't worry, you can always go back and have a listen.

Last week's focus was on our emotions and this week we turn our attention to our bodies. If you're familiar with this podcast, you'll recognize that in the beginning of nearly every episode I ask you to turn your attention to your body, seeing how it feels and what it has to say. What happens when we treat our bodies, and this life of ours as if we are champion athletes, running for a victor's crown that lasts forever?

Isn’t it obvious that all runners on the racetrack keep on running to win, but only one receives the victor’s prize? Yet each one of you must run the race to be victorious. A true athlete will be disciplined in every respect, practicing constant self-control in order to win a laurel wreath that quickly withers. But we run our race to win a victor’s crown that will last forever. For that reason, I don’t run just for exercise or box like one throwing aimless punches, but I train like a champion athlete. I subdue my body and get it under my control, so that after preaching the good news to others I myself won’t be disqualified. - 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (TPT)
