Episode Notes

The Names of God

Abba - Father

Welcome to our series called The Names of God. Inspired by our online course, Connecting with God - An Eight Week Online Experience, this series is going to spend time meditating on some of the names God has been know by.

It’s one thing to know you have a father in heaven; having “head knowledge” of this matter-of-fact statement. Yet there is a drastic difference in actually experiencing the relationship first hand.

Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” - Galatians 4:6 NASB

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” - Romans 8:15 NIV

“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” - Mark 14:36 NIV

If Jesus modeled the perfect relationship with his heavenly father, calling upon him as daddy, even when facing the cross, what are we to learn from this?

Do you have the level of intimacy with God that allows you to call him Abba, even in the hardest places?

Blessing you to come into the fulness of understanding you are loved by your father in heaven.
